Special Shabbat Service: Support New Leyners!

Last year Marcel Infeld trained six new leyners (Torah readers) to leyn (chant) directly from the Torah scroll. Please support the new leyners by joining us for a warm Shabbat Service led by Rabbi Leila at 10 a.m. in the Activity Room. Participants are encouraged to bring a dairy/vegetarian dish to share for the potluck kiddush following the service.

Kabbalat Shabbat Service

Please join the Kol Ami community for a traditional Kabbalat Shabbat service with a focus on the upcoming holiday of Shavuoth. In the service we will discuss Shavuoth in the bible, explore the laws and customs of Shavuoth (including Shavuoth recipes) and issues connected with Shavuoth, and hear poetry about Shavuoth.

We will meet in the Activity Room at 7:30 p.m. We encourage participants to bring dairy or vegetarian dishes to share for the dessert oneg following the service.

Kol Ami will not have a separate Shavuoth service or the Yizkor service that is traditionally held on Shavuoth. However, the Kabbalat Shabbat service to be held on May 25th will explore many aspects of Shavuoth. In addition, we encourage members to seek out services offered at other congregations in the area.

Shepard. A documentary film maker who grew up as the daughter of a while Protestant from Colorado and a Muslim from Pakistan, Ms. Shepard searches for family roots in India.
